Studio Review: Post Projects

Overview
Post Projects (PP) is a graphic design and creative services agency located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Their work is playful, bold, and personal, this makes them one of my favourite design studios, possibly my favourite.
The studio takes on projects from a variety of clients including institutions like the Shumka Centre at Emily Carr and the CAG in Vancouver. As well as popular coffee shops such as Revolver and Luna based in the Lower Mainland.
In-Depth Analysis
Post Projects’ designs stand out for their use of quirky, playful, and unexpected elements in branding. For instance, in their work for Luna, they incorporated an orange as a central element of the brand identity. While initially seeming unrelated to coffee, this orange becomes an endearing character that customers quickly grow fond of, appearing throughout the branding in various playful scenarios, such as driving cars in videos or skateboarding on the checkout page.
Their use of color is particularly striking. PP often employs bold and unconventional color palettes, ensuring their work stands out while remaining tasteful and intentional. A prime example is their work for the CAG, where they used vibrant colors like pink, yellow, and blue to reflect the gallery's contemporary nature. To balance and unify these bright hues, they added a pale green/grey, creating a cohesive and versatile brand identity.
For Nathan Martell’s branding, PP opted for a palette of natural, subtle colors that complement his furniture designs. They also selected a unique slab-serif font with angular, blocky strokes to echo the strong angles and modular components of Martell’s furniture, personalizing the brand effectively.
